This property in Deadwood needed a solid, functional driveway and sidewalk to match the quality of the home itself. Out here in the Black Hills, you can't cut corners - the terrain is uneven, the ground shifts, and winters are hard on concrete that wasn't put in right the first time. So we came in with a plan and worked the job from the ground up.

Before a single yard of concrete gets poured, the prep work has to be right. We laid out a full rebar grid across the entire pour area - that steel reinforcement is what keeps the slab from cracking and shifting over time. It's not the flashy part of the job, but it's the part that makes everything last. Gravel base, proper compaction, clean forms. That's what sets a long-lasting slab apart from one that's crumbling in five years.

Once the ready-mix truck showed up, we got to work fast. Fresh concrete has a narrow window, and our crew knows how to move efficiently without rushing the finish. The broom texture you see across the surface isn't just for looks - it gives the concrete traction, which matters a lot when you're dealing with rain, snow, and ice up in the Hills.

The result is a clean, solid surface that connects the home to the driveway in a way that just makes sense. Functional, safe, and built to handle whatever South Dakota weather throws at it. That's what good concrete work looks like - nothing fancy, just done right.
